Metformin: Side-Effect, Number one – Diarrhea Did They Tell YOU?
Diabetics on Metformin are so often shocked and surprised by the
Explosive Side-Effects that they experience almost immediately.
Listen to the “voice of just one shocked individual” on a national blog, reaching out for help.
DOES THIS Blog Entry SOUND FAMILIAR?
“I am on 500 mgs of metformin 3 x per day. I first took it last night at 10 p.m. and every eight hours thereafter, so today was my first full day of being on the full dose of 1500 mgs, having taken a 500 mg tablet at 7 a.m., again at 2 p.m. and this evening at 10 p.m. (trying to space it out evenly – does this help?)
All day at work today I felt really bloated today and gassy but with no flatulence (thank goodness). Tonight around 11:30 p.m. I got diarrhea REALLY bad. So far I have gone 4 times. The first 2 times I was sure glad I was home as I just made it to the bathroom and the trek from my room isn’t that far at all.
… I commute on transit each day 1 hour to work and 1 hour to home and would hate to have Mr. Metformin-Side-Effect come and visit me while I was on the bus/subway.”

Diarrhea is one of the side-effects that people can experience from taking these medications like Metformin.
| This is NOT your imagination; did your Medical Practionar fail to mention the many side effects that are possible? Let’s look at what the Squibb web site says: Diarrhea occurs in up to 53.2 percent of the test group of people taking this drug.

The most common side effects of metformin are gastrointestinal (a metallic taste in the mouth, nausea, diarrhea) and usually mild. In about a third of patients, the drug interferes with the absorption of vitamin B12, but not so much that it causes anemia.
What is your experience?
Medications and their Side Effects
The biggest drawbacks with many conventional medicines, something that the doctors don’t warn us about, are the many unintended side effects they cause. Fortunately, there are more natural ways to protect us from the cumulative effects of uncontrolled diabetes without experiencing these unpleasant side effects or welcoming these health-threatening risks.
Skin rashes and muscle aches are the most common reactions to diabetes medications. Diabetics taking other certain medications may experience a loss of appetite or a metallic taste in the mouth. Bloating, diarrhea, gas, nausea or vomiting are other common effects of oral medications.
Diabetics need to weigh the risks of oral medication, as well as the possibility of interactions with other medications, if they have a history of heart, kidney or liver disease.
Talk to your doctor about your family health history to get a better understanding of the full range of medications and their side effects.
Our surprised friend goes on.
