Jump Start the Diabetic Diet to Lower Blood Sugar, Skip the Corn Syrup

December 6th, 2011

I spent much of my career in the food and beverage industry. So it wasn’t surprising that I developed a Plus 6 Soda-a-day habit.

By Robert P. Tracy

Occasionally, I worried about the calorie intake, but not too much.

Then,  after some problems and tests my doctor told me I was Type 2 diabetic. I realized that my daily soda six-pack was contributing over 1,000 calories of unnecessary weight gain.

But as you know, added pounds weren’t the biggest health threat.

After doing some research, I found increasing evidence that the sweetener used in most sodas like Coke, Pepsi and Dr. Pepper is something called high fructose corn syrup. It’s a sweet, cheap substitute for sugar, but it can drain chromium from your system. Big trouble if you are diabetic.

To bring us into science, here is a youtube by the famous Dr. Lusting an expert on food and High fructose Corn Syrup.  Click here to be taken to this most intereesting and vital site.

For all and espically diabetics, Chromium is a very important trace mineral that helps to regulate blood sugar levels in your body. It is found in nature. Too little chromium in your system and your blood sugar levels start to rise.

The Washington Post confirmed this in a recent story. It talking about the link between high fructose corn sweeteners and the growing numbers of diabetic sufferers.

As a part of the program that my medical support team put me on, (a natural Type 2 diabetes recovery program), I stopped my 6 Coke a-day-corn syrup habit. Not only did it help me to shed pounds, but my blood sugar levels dropped.

In addition, my recovery program included chromium supplements. Your body can’t produce this wonderful, blood sugar regulating mineral. It has to come from your diet.

But you need to find a chromium supplement that is both safe and effective in replacing depleted chromium levels. My research showed that niacin-bound chromium or something called polynicotinate is the inly one that works safely.

It’s not complicated, but….”For some of the benefits to be maximized you want to have Chromium in your system before food starts to digest. “Chromium participates in glucose metabolism by enhancing the effects of insulin, the pancreatic hormone that provides cells with glucose for energy and maintains normal blood glucose levels.”

To get your own diabetes recovery program working for you, kick the corn habit and fuel your body with chromium supplements that will help keep your blood sugar levels normal.

The Diabetic Diet as a Natural Cure for Diabetes

June 23rd, 2011

diabetic dietDiabetes is a blood sugar disorder. This ailment comes in 2 types: Insulin dependent of type 1 and type 2, which usually does not require for injections of insulin. Type 1 diabetics are usually recommended to eat a natural whole-foods diabetic diet to help in the management of their blood sugar and enhance their quality of life. This may also reduce their requirement for insulin injections, although it may not replace their requirement for insulin. The second type of insulin is exclusively associated with lifestyle habits and diet, and a natural diabetics diet, employed in combination with regular physical exercise can aid greatly in reversing the disorder entirely.

By Robert P. Tracy, a Diabetic Author

If you are suffering from diabetes, the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition or simply CSNN recommends you to consume only high-fiber, low-fat, and whole-food diet and select as much as possible, organic foods. Encouraged is the consumption of a diet that is abundant in lean protein, seeds, nuts, fruits and vegetables. At breakfast, eating fruits is discouraged as they may lead to pre-lunch crashes in blood sugar levels and symptoms such as brain fog and fatigue may take place. There is the so-called diabetes superfoods, which have a minimal impact on the levels of blood sugar but are very abundant in essential nutrients including vitamin A and C, magnesium and calcium. The ADA, or the American Diabetes Association recommends for the emphasis of these foods and they include cold water fish, tomatoes, nuts, dark leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, berries and beans.

Another important food component in a diabetic diet is fiber. It is particular essential since it encourages regular elimination and lessens the toxins that are circulating in the body. In addition to this, fiber also aids in keeping the natural balance of the blood sugar. Snacking on food items such as whole grains, legumes, rice bran or oat crackers with nut butter and vegetables will supply you with the important fiber and aids in the proper regulation of your blood sugar levels. The CSNN suggests a total consumption of 30 to 50 grams of fiber every day and consuming a fiber supplement in order to assist you in reaching that suggested consumption.

There are also some types of foods that are discouraged as they may only tend to worsen diabetes. Trans and Saturated fats raise your risk of stroke and heart diseases, which is the primary cause of mortality in diabetes sufferers.

As part of an ideal diabetic diet, the CSNN also suggest to limit your consumption of all highly processed foods, artificial sweeteners, chocolates, tea and coffee as these foods tend to cause blood sugar imbalances and a raised requirement for insulin. Stevia is an example of commercially available artificial sweeteners, and it is perceived to be non-problematic for diabetes sufferers when used in moderation, if you require a sweetening agent. Furthermore, the CSNN suggests diabetes patients to eat small, frequent meals in order to maintain the proper balance of blood sugar as well as to stimulate the natural synthesis of insulin in the body.

Kevin Trudeau’s 10 Reasons Why Diabetics and Pre-Diabetics Get Fat

August 14th, 2008

In his book, Natural Cures, New York Times best-selling author and controversial spokesperson Kevin Trudeau, champions holistic treatment of illnesses, including diabetes and pre-diabetes.  Trudeau has developed a huge following of readers.

By: Diab-X, The Natural Supplement Company.  Proven Ingredients

Two of the biggest problems of diabetics, pre-diabetics and others, are weight gain and high blood sugar levels.

Trudeau has put together a “Top 10” list of underlying reasons why people get fat. These include:

#1 Low metabolism

Trudeau says that a low metabolism requires a lot of energy to burn off a small amount of food, or it gets turned into fat. Under-active thyroids, a poor performing pancreas, clogged and sluggish liver, sluggish digestive system are some of the primary reasons for this low metabolic condition.

#2 Eating when you’re not hungry

Stress and physical food cravings are cited by Trudeau as the primary cause of eating, even when you’re full.

#3 Large Appetites

Lack of digestive enzymes and Candida yeast overgrowth reduce your body’s ability to assimilate nutrients, resulting in insatiable hunger.

#4 Hormonal imbalances

Your body may be secreting too many harmful hormones and not enough healthy hormones, creating an imbalanced state.

#5 Eating larger portions

Needing larger portions to satisfy hunger is a cultural issue (most U.S. food portions are considerably larger than European portions), larger appetites, physiological cravings and even stress can cause a need for more food.

#6 High consumption of diet food

“Diet”, “low fat”, “low carb”, even “lean” foods and beverages are loaded with artificial flavorings, colorings and additives that, according to Trudeau, actually make you fatter. They increase your appetite, and make you physically addicted to eating more, causing you to get fatter.

#7 High toxic conditions

Found mainly in the colon and fat cells, toxins lodge themselves in your body. They cause you to retain water, and increase fat stores.

#8 Eating before bed

When you sleep your body’s metabolism is slowed, converting fewer calories to energy and more to fat.

#9 Growth Hormones in Meat and Dairy Products

Many of the meat and dairy products you consume contain large quantities of growth hormones that cause obesity in your own body.

#10 Fat people see themselves as fat

It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy that what you focus or think about most, is what you become. Fat people see themselves as fat, and become that, even if they’re slightly overweight.

In addition to Kevin Trudeau’s Top 10 list of why diabetics and pre-diabetics get fat, we’d like to add one more.

Increasingly, evidence suggests that high consumption of high fructose corn syrup, a cheap sugar substitute, is also a major cause of diabetic problems.

Because it’s more calorie dense than sugar, it adds pounds to your waist and every other area of your body. But it also drains chromium from your system, causing an imbalance in your blood sugar levels – it’s called a double whammy effect. Not only does it trigger obesity, it also sends your blood sugar through the roof.

Many of the people we talk to every day, suffer from obesity or are considerably overweight.

They got that way, because they suffer from or have behavior patterns outlined by Kevin Trudeau, that give them a life-threatening body condition that demands immediate shedding of pounds.

If you suffer from diabetic weight loss or even abnormal blood sugar levels, there are natural, herbal remedies and treatments that can help you restore your health and give your control over diabetes.
